Bulletin 75 – People’s Committee in Defense of Lula and Democracy

- This morning’s “Good Morning President Lula” yell included the participation of Congressman and former Congressional President Marco Maia (PT – Rio Grande do Sul), member of the national PT leadership Markus Sokol, and Paraná State General Secretary of PT Angelo Vanhoni. After the morning greetings to the ex-President, the three participated in a debate in the camp about the national conjuncture. Marco Maia and Sokol denounced the influence of the United States in the coup and the connections between the Lava Jato prosecutors and North American authorities, as well as the way government officials from both countries exchanged information in total disregard for Brazilian laws. Maia reaffirmed that Lula will run for President of the Republic and said that only he can put the brakes on the process of retrogression, cuts to rights and destruction of national sovereignty that started with the coup that removed the elected president Dilma Rousseff. Sokol also condemned the fascist attacks against the vigil which have taken place in the last 36 days.
- The #LulaLivre Democratic Vigil released a note denouncing that Eder Borges, who is connected to Congressman Fernando Francischini and the MBL (Movimento Brasil Livre/Free Brasil Movement), led a fascist protest which invaded the area reserved by the Courts for the defenders of Lula. The note says that, “the participants made direct provocations, shot fireworks at the crowd, threatened them with knives, blew bugles, entered with vehicles and isolated a street without authorization of the authorities.” It also reaffirms that the Vigil will continue in a peaceful and democratic manner. - The monk Marcelo Barros will visit Lula this afternoon and will, afterwords, speak with participants in the Democratic Vigil. This Monday (May 14) afternoon, there will also be a public class on the coup with professors from Parana Federal University (UFPR), who will also participate in the “Good Night President Lula” yell.
- Curitiba City Councilwoman Professora Josete (PT) will participate in the “Democracia em Rede” program today at 2 PM in the Democracy House, where she will talk about the Mayor, Rafael Greca’s posture towards the #LulaLivre Vigil.
- The first Lula Livre radio program debuts today, straight from Curitiba. Every day it will report on news from the camp, which has resisted for 36 days now in defense of the ex-President and against his arbitrary conviction.
