- Ex-President Lula sent a letter today to the country members of the BRICS, a bloc formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The letter was delivered by PT President, Senator Gleisi Hoffman to the Secretary-General of the African National Congress, Ace Mugashule, in the South African city of Tsuane, where a meeting of political parties from the countries which make up the bloc is taking place. In the letter, Lula spoke of the historic advances of the BRICS and the need for Brazil to, once again, integrate with the international community. - The National Lula Livre Committee, in partnership with the social movements from the Frente Brasil Popular, will hold a national Lula Livre Day this December 10, with various activities in different locations across the country. The date, which marks 70 years since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, will also include a large demonstration in front of the ABC-São Paulo Metallurgical Workers Union, with the presence of national and foreign political representatives. - The good afternoon shout to ex-President Lula on this Wednesday was led by Daniel Barbosa, an activist from the ABC Metallurgical worker’s union. “It’s already been 243 days of unjust and arbitrary imprisonment of our comrade Lula, 243 days without Lula for Brazil,” he said. Among the people who shouted greetings to the ex-President was Cynthia Faria Oliveira, from Campinas, SP. “This Vigil is a moment of solidarity and union,” she said.
- This afternoon, Nicolas Rivera Sarmento, a Colombian doctoral student in Political Science and Law who is studying in Barcelona, visited the Lula Livre Vigil. He said that he came to Curitiba especially to greet Lula, he praised the democratic resistance in the Vigil and said “Lula is suffering from the world’s greatest injustice.”
