1. In a historic event in the Casa de Portugal, in São Paulo (SP), on this Saturday, August 4th, Lula was chosen by wide acclaim as PT’s candidate for the October 7th election for Presidency of the Republic. In announcing the results of the voting, PT National President, Senator Gleisi Hoffmann, gave a message to the biggest enemy of Brazilian democracy, Rede Globo media company: “despite you, we are here and Lula is our candidate for the Presidency of the Republic. We are millions of Lula’s, as he asked us.” Fernando Haddad, the coordinator of Lula’s Government Plan, expressed his optimism in facing the current challenges. “I am one of those who has the conviction that we are on route to a 5th PT championship. We are going to win the 5th consecutive election.” More details here: https://lula.com.br/pt-oficializa-lula-candidato/
2. Political prisoner for more than 100 days, Lula sent a letter to the meeting where his name was chosen to run for President. “This is the first time in 38 years that I cannot participate personally in a national meeting of our party. But I know that I am present through each one of you, each PT director, delegate and activist,” he said in the letter, which was very emotional to the thousands of people who packed the Casa de Portugal. 4. The partiality of Judge Sergio Moro was exposed to the World on Friday, August 3rd, as Interpol made the decision to remove Rodrigo Tacla Durán from its international wanted list. Interpol confirmed that there was no exemption for Judge Sergio Moro to express a public opinion about Duran in a televised interview. Interpol stated that the Judge of the 13th Federal Court of Curitiba was biased in publicly expressing opinions about a defendant (Duran) and in not allowing Duran, a former lawyer for Odebrecht Engineering Company, to testify as a defense witness for Lula.
