In the early hours of the morning on April 28, criminals fired 20 shots at the Marisa Leticia camp in Curitiba where supporters of ex-President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva are camped out in Vigil against his illegal imprisonment. The shots hit a member of the camp, who is hospitalized in grave condition. Another person was hit by bullet shards.
The attack is one more episode of political violence against democracy and happened one month after shots hit a bus in the Lula For Brazil convoy in the countryside of Paraná. As of now, neither the people who fired the shots last month nor the people who fired the shots this morning have been arrested.
After the Coup d’etat which toppled democratically elected president Dilma Rousseff, the number of attacks and assassinations against social movement leaders has increased in the cities and the countryside. Together, they have been followed by unacceptable collusive neglect from the authorities and the Coup mongering media, which remains silent in the face of growing barbarianism. The assassination of City Councilwoman Marielle Franco in Rio de Janeiro continues unpunished.
The whole world will know about one more crime that has been committed in Brazil after the coup. The Workers Party demands the immediate punishment of the criminals. Enough complacency. Enough!
Lula Livre, Marielle Presente!
