Bulletin 95 – People’s Committee in Defense of Lula and Democracy

- The Family Agriculture Caravan, organized by Fetraf, the Federation of Family Agriculture Workers, arrived in the #LulaLivre Vigil today. The farmers participated in the “Good Morning, Lula” yell and filled Olga Benario square. Afterwords, they held a workshop on healthy food and food security.
- The mood is upbeat today in the Vigil, with the arrival of another bus caravan. The family farmers distributed food to the people who are in the Vigil defending freedom for ex-President Lula, who has been held as a political prisoner since April 7th. At 2 PM, the Democracia em Rede program will begin in the Democracy House, with a debate on energy sovereignty which will be broadcast live, here: https://pt-br.facebook.com/vigilialulalivre/
During the same time, Fetraf representatives will hold a debate in the Vigil about pension reform.
- Pedro Carrano, the journalist from Brasil de Fato, is launching his new book, “History of the Oaxaca Commune” in the #LulaLivre Vigil today. The book tells the story of the landmark experience of the peoples uprising in Oaxaca in 2006, which started with a strike for higher wages by over 70,000 teachers. As evening sets in, as has happened ever Friday since the Vigil began, the daily activities will culminate with a “lights for Lula” act.
