- Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will be visited, on Thursday, October 24th, by Kailash Satyarthi, winner of the 2014 Nobel Peace Price. The Indian children’s rights activist has met Lula previously, before his political imprisonment. He will be the second Nobel Peace Prize Laureate to visit Lula since his imprisonment. PT Vice President Márcio Macedo and Federal Congressmen José Guimarães (PT-CE) will also visit Lula this Thursday afternoon. - Former President Lula gave an exclusive interview to Brasil de Fato newspaper in the Curitiba Federal Police headquarters on this Wednesday, October 23rd. “I am very calm and know well what I want. I know perfectly well what they did to me and the attempts to keep this lie alive,” he said. While the reporters were speaking with Lula, the Federal Supreme Court restarted its session during which it will vote on the constitutionality of imprisonment before the appeals process is exhausted, which is a subject Lula talks about in the interview. - At noon on Sunday, October 27th another Lula Livre Festival will kick off in Florianopolis. Billed as the biggest cultural/political demonstration ever held in Santa Catarina, the event is being held on Lula’s 74th birthday in defense of democracy and in favor of his release from prison. Artists who will take the stage in Miramar, in downtown Florianopolis, include Ana Canas, Francisco El Hombre, and Cores de Aidê. The event is being organized by the Regional Lula Livre Committee of Florianopolis, with support from various progressive organizations and unions.
