1. US philosopher and Black Panther activist Angela Davis reinforced the international movement in defense of the release of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. This Saturday (October 19), during a conference at the closing of the “Democracy in Collapse?” seminar in São Paulo, Davis, who was also politically persecuted and unjustly imprisoned, raised her arm with a clenched fist during the event to cries of “Free Lula!” She also touched on the legacy of Marielle Franco and spoke in favor of the need to deepen democracy. 2. This Saturday (October 19), in his party’s final campaign event before the Uruguayan elections, former President José “Pepe” Mujica saluted the fighters of Latin America and mentioned the “unjust imprisonment” of former President Lula. “We will fight for all the comrades in Latin America who have pledged to improve the lives of their people everywhere. Sometimes they end up facing the same misfortunes as Lula, who is living through an unjust imprisonment,” he said. 3. In addition to the usual daily activities, such as the traditional greeting to the former president throughout the day, the Free Lula Vigil has hosted several cultural actions that foment debate, such as the exhibition of films on a wide variety of themes. This Sunday (October 20), the activists watched the biopic “The Young Karl Marx” – a work that presents a segment of the life of Marx, from the moment he meets Friedrich Engels to the writing of the “Communist Manifesto” (1848). After the screening, everyone gathered for a conversation circle about the movie.
4. In an interview with UOL, recorded on Wednesday (October 16), former President Lula spoke about the ongoing retrocession in Brazil, the judicial farce created by former judge Sergio Moro and public prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol, as well as the importance of enforcing the constitution.
