1. At Lula’s request, the lawyer Cristiano Zanin will petition the Supreme Court to reject the Public Prosecution Service’s request for sentence reduction based on good behavior. Zanin made it clear what the strategies to follow in facing the Lula’s farcical political imprisonment. Therefore, no “bargaining” – as Lula himself put it – to try to legitimize the arbitrary trial rigged by former judge Sergio Moro in collusion with prosecutors of the Federal Public Prosecution Service will be accepted. 2. Former Minister of Education Fernando Haddad was in Curitiba this Friday (October 18) to meet Lula in his capacity as a lawyer acting for the former president. He then paid a quick visit to the Free Lula Vigil to talk to the activists there – and found the site of resistance full of children from the Landless Movement. Despite their young age, they have all shown that they are ready to join in the fight for freedom for Lula and against the disastrous government of Jair Bolsonaro. 3. Lula’s birthday is coming and will be celebrated all over Brazil. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s 74th birthday celebration activities will take place on October 26 and 27. The date coincides with the Free Lula Working Bee and Lula’s supporters will make the celebration another opportunity to denounce his political imprisonment and demand his immediate release. 4. Thirteen years ago, Petrobras revealed that it had discovered vast reserves of oil and natural gas in the pre-salt geological layer. The immense pre-salt riches led the Lula government to propose a law, approved by Congress, that would change the concession regime, which allowed for exploration in higher risk areas, and for sharing in low-risk fields with a high presence of oil and gas.
