Bulletin 599 – People’s Committee in Defense of Lula and Democracy
Straight from Curitiba – 10/12/2019 – 553 days of resistance – 6:10 PM
1. During the week of October 12th, former President Lula received scores of letters from children from across Brazil. The main targets of the dismantlement of services promoted by the current government, the children wrote the ex-President to show that they understand what the word injustice means. In the letters, they gave a lesson, showing that the Brazilian people have to start dreaming again of a country with more rights, justice and equality. The letters written in homage to Lula remind us of the song by the Brazilian singer Gonzaguinha, “the pure response of the children is that life is beautiful.” Watch video here: https://bit.ly/2McvsdL
2. The struggle for Lula Livre continued today, October 12th, in Jundiaí, a city in São Paulo state. 3. Saturday, October 12th, is both Children’s Day and Our Lady of Aparecida Day in Brazil, and it was also a day marked by shouts of “free Lula” in the Santa Cândida neighborhood in Curitiba. Bus caravans arrived from São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul to join with the activists and supporters of the Vigil for the traditional “good afternoon, President Lula” shout. Comrade Braga, who came from Rio Grande do Sul, made a point of expressing his happiness at visiting the Resistance center. “I want to greet all of my comrades and thank you for the welcome,” he said, “this is my second visit and it is always heartwarming to be here. Being here renews me for the struggle. This Vigil will go down in history.” Watch video here: https://bit.ly/2OHPkHt
