  1. On a day in which right wing extremist President Jair Bolsonaro, once again, shocked the World with a violent speech full of lies at the UN, it became indispensable to remember the speeches that Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Dilma Rousseff made during UN General Assembly openings. In a statement, the PT said that both “spoke in the General Assembly in favor of the values of peace, dialogue between peoples and nations and cooperation for development with social justice and environmental preservation. They defended fair reforms in global trade, economic relations and security. They garnered respect for Brazil and caused it to grow”.   1. Next Saturday, September 28th, the Lula Livre Vigil will welcome a visit from mayors and former mayors and vice mayors to Curitiba. The Lula Livre Caravan is asking for people who cannot show up to sign the letter to Lula which is available at the following link: https://bit.ly/2n1qSF9. Among other things, the letter speaks of Lula’s efforts to improve public policies at the municipal level. The “Good morning President Lula,” shout on this Tuesday, September 24th, was lead by activists from the Movement of People Hit by Dams (MAB), one of the social movements which has been most present at the Vigil since the beginning of the former President’s political imprisonment on April 7th, 2018. The initiative was organized by another social movement, the Consulta Popular, which has also been a constant presence at the resistance center. Watch here: https://bit.ly/2kUj7A2

 

  1. On this Tuesday, September 24th, the Vigil held another conversation circle which was broadcast by Brasil de Fato Paraná. The theme was, “Why do privatizations hurt the population? Petrobras, Copel and Sanepar are ours!” Robson Formica, from MAB, the electrical engineer Antonio Goulart, Paraná Engineers Union Director Cicero Martíns and Santiago Santos, from the Paraná Petrochemical Workers Union (Sindiquímica) participated in the event.
