- Jean-Luc Mélanchon, the leader and founder of the French Insubmissa movement, came to Brazil to meet with former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is clearly the World’s greatest victim of lawfare, on this Thursday, September 5th. Along with Fernando Haddad and Aloizio Mercadante, the Frenchman used the visit to the former President as a unique opportunity to debate on the theme of and find ways to fight the judicial wars going on around the world. The result was the announcement of a big international mobilization in defense of immediate freedom for those who, like Lula, have become political prisoners. - This Thursday, September 5th, marks the commemoration of Amazonia Day, and at a moment of destruction of our plant and wildlife through the misgovernance of Jair Bolsonaro, it is important to remember everything that Lula did for the forest. With Lula, the protected environmental areas increased by 52.9%, and deforestation in the Amazon region fell by 82%. It is important to remember that, back in 1989, Lula was already defending that national sovereignty include protection for and sustainable development of Amazonia. Watch here: https://bit.ly/2lzWgd4
- The sociologist Eric Fassin, a member of the Parisian Committee of Solidarity with Lula and the man who indroduced of the theories of Judith Butler to France, organized a study seminar on the issue of gender in relation to the current Brazilian political context. The event took place on September 3rd and was divided into two parts. The afternoon session took place inside University of Paris 8, and at night, in the Saint-Denis Mayor’s Office.
