- New conversations published by Veja Magazine in partnership with the Intercept Brazil increase suspicions about the Lava Jato investigation and the collusion among different actors to manipulate trials for political purposes. The magazine shows that public prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol had “chance meetings” with Chief Judge João Pedro Gebran Neto, reporting judge for Lava Jato in the 4th Federal Regional Court (TRF-4) in Porto Alegre. Gebran who was in charge of ruling on the appeal against the case set up in Curitiba, has an intimate relationship with ex-judge Sérgio Moro. And it was he who upheld Moro’s ruling, without proof, in the Guarujá apartment case, increasing former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s sentence, despite the appeal by his defense team. - Paulo Okamotto, president of the Lula Institute and member of the Lula Livre Committee leadership, sent a letter to Workers Party activists on the night of Thursday, July 11th, in which he asks for all PT supporters to help gather signatures for a petition to the Federal Supreme Court, in an initiative that aims to have the rulings against former President Lula annulled due to the scandalous manipulations in the trial that led to his political imprisonment. - The musician Edgar Scandurra, renowned lead guitarist from the São Paulo band Ira!, visited the Lula Livre Vigil on this Friday, July 12, and was well received by the activists. - Although he did not visit the Vigil, the pernambucan musician Siba also took advantage of his visit to Curitiba to give a message of support to Lula during his show on the Thursday night, July 11th.
