- In a letter, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed his solidarity with the leaders of the homeless movement that were arrested in São Paulo on June 24. “Preta Ferreira, Sidney Silva, Edinalva Franco Pereira and Angélica dos Santos Lima have also been arbitrarily imprisoned for the same “crime” I committed: fighting for a more just society where, alongside so many other rights, every family can enjoy the right to live with the dignity it deserves,” wrote Lula. - This Thursday (July 11), former president Lula will be visited by former president Dilma Rousseff, who was victim of a judicial, parliamentary and media coup in 2016, and the Spanish writer and president of the José Saramago Foundation, Pilar del Río – who was married to the Saramago, the great icon of Portuguese letters, for 22 years. After their meeting with the former president, Rousseff and del Rio will probably meet with representatives of the press at the exit from the Federal Police Superintendency in Curitiba, where Lula has been held as a political prisoner for more than 15 months. - The “Good morning, President Lula” yell was this Wednesday (July 10) led by the Communication Collective of the National Confederation of Education Workers (CNTE) together with a delegation from the National Steel Workers’ Confederation (CNM-CUT) of Paraná state. The name of the journalist Paulo Henrique Amorim, who passed away in the wee hours of the morning, also came up during discussions. The two categories have been among the hardest fighters in the battle against the backwards policies of Jair Bolsonaro and for the release of former president Lula. - During the afternoon, the activists present at the Vigil had the opportunity to take part in a conversation circle on the subject of “exchanging union experiences” with members of CNM-CUT/PR.
