- This Thursday (April 4), former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will be visited by the retired Public Prosecutor of Rio de Janeiro Afrânio Silva Jardim and the journalist Juca Kfouri. Jardim represents a group of public prosecutors that will be present at the Free Lula Vigil in solidarity with the former president and in opposition to the judicial persecution that saw him imprisoned on April 7, 2018, as part of a legal process manipulated for political and electoral purposes. - On the eve of a year of resistance, the Free Lula Vigil is filled with expectation for the great event in favor of freedom for the former president to take place next Sunday, April 7. With the usual mobilization and comradeship, the site is being prepared to accommodate as many people as possible. Meanwhile, the day-to-day routine helps to keep spirits up, with the presence of various popular movements, as well as artists and visitors from all over the country, who also take part in the traditional greetings to the former president. - The live component of the Free Lula Auction took place this Wednesday (April 3) in São Paulo and João Pessoa. The items for auction were 50 historic photographs, taken by renowned Brazilian photographers, of the political trajectory and life of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, each signed by the former president himself. According to Lula Institute chairman, Paulo Okamotto, who participated in the São Paulo auction, the event traced Lula’s career as he “served the people of Brazil for more than 40 years.” Okamotto also spoke about the importance of the struggle to free Lula, Brazil’s greatest political leader, a political prisoner in 21st century Brazil.
