- The Lava Jato investigation task force, in Curitiba, Paraná, announced the creation of a foundation to promote “anti-corruption” projects last week. The money for the financing of these actions was received in a deal between the Federal Public Prosecutors office in Paraná, Petrobras and the US Department of Justice. It is a similar initiative to one which was blocked by Federal Supreme Court Justice Teori Zavascki in 2016, and he died in an accident the next year. Congressman Paulo Teixeira (PT-São Paulo) filed a complaint with the Supreme Court to cancel the idea of a Foundation. The Federal Supreme Court has not taken an official position on the issue yet, but Justice Marco Aurélio Mello has already said, “the Judiciary cannot have a fund.” Read more here: https://pt.org.br/fruto-de-acordo-com-os-eua-criacao-da-fundacao-da-lava-jato-nao-tem-amparo-legal/
- PT National President, Congresswoman Gleisi Hoffmann (Paraná) cited a story on the Conjur website about the relationship between Brazilian investigators and the US Department of Justice and said on Sunday, March 10, on Twitter, that “this is the biggest proof that the funding for the planned Public Prosecutors Foundation is the bribe that the Lava Jato team received from the US to hand over Petrobras. This is the corruption and money laundering of the Lava Jato task force! They are delivering strategic information to end our sovereignty.” Read more here: https://twitter.com/gleisi/status/1104810964006916097

It was the governments of Lula and Dilma that transformed the Maria da Penha domestic violence law into reality, as well as the National Secretariat for Woman’s Policies, the “Women live without violence” program, the categorization of Femicide as a crime, among other examples that are being remember during Woman’s month.
