- On a day marking 334 days of resistance, former PT Congressman Wadih Damous (Rio de Janeiro) visited the Lula Livre Vigil this Wednesday, March 6. He visited the activists to bring a message of thanks from the ex-President. “We cannot lose hope, especially at this difficult moment that the ex-President is going through. He has told me several times that the first thing that he is going to do when he gets out is to cross the street and come here to give a hug to each one of you. He is very grateful. You are the pillar of resistance for his freedom. We have to stay strong no matter how hard things get, regardless of the fact that the judiciary is now spearheading Brazilian fascism. You have to know that Lula hears your voices every day,” he said. Watch video here: https://www.facebook.com/vigilialulalivre/videos/340238523365778/
- This morning’s ‘Good Morning President Lula’ shout was marked by good byes from the activists Roseli, Débora and Fernanda, from the PT São Paulo State Executive Commission. They thanked the Vigil activists for their warm welcome. “We have a strategy in São Paulo to have members of our Executive Commission visit the Vigil every week. We are leaving here with hearts full of hope and believe that we have to fight every day for Lula to return to the streets, to our side. This is why we leave here with a commitment to get closer and closer to the Vigil,” they said. They thanked their comrades from the MST and said that they were leaving Curitiba with the hope that it will be possible to rewrite history. - In the middle of Ash Wednesday the Lula Livre Vigil showed why it has maintained continual resistance in defense of the ex-President and against the setbacks imposed by Jair Bolsonaro. And, as could be expected, one of the issues remembered by the activists was the success of progressive causes brought with great humor and creativity to the Carnaval celebrations across the country. In Curitiba, where Lula is being held as a political prisoner, the spirit of the Vigil was brought to the party on Largo da Ordem square in the historic downtown nearly every day of the event.
