  1. The Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), José Graziano, was honored on this Monday, February 11th, in Adis Abeba, Ethiopia, by the African Union, during the closing ceremonies of a congress on food security. 1. Exactly 14 years ago today, Lula’s government (2003-2010) began one of its most successful initiatives. On that day Lula arrived in Caruaru, Pernambuco to inaugurate the Smiling Brazil program. Until then, the only oral health “policy” for people who could not afford private dentists was pulling teeth. At that time, 20% of the Brazilian population had lost all of its teeth. Ten years lager, 80 million Brazilians had a good reason to smile. R$7 Billion was invested in the program, which completely reformulated the basic treatment program for oral health. In 2014, there were 23,100 dentistry teams working in the public system in 4952 counties. Thanks to the prevention and specialized treatment programs, 400,000 less teeth were pulled per year. The debate over pension reform is also a top priority. Fernando Haddad, the PT candidate who received 47 million votes in last year’s presidential elections, will lead the trips across the country. The first journey will start on Friday, February 15, in Ceará. Read more here: http://ptceara.org.br/noticias/texto.asp?id=7081
