- The good morning shout to Lula this morning (January 27) was joined by activists from Natal (Rio Grande do Norte), Osasco (São Paulo) and Florianópolis (Santa Catarina). Professor Elenira came from Florianópolis to bring a message of hope, fighting and thanks. She made a point of thanking the activists who are at the Vigil every day defending the former President. “It is unacceptable that the greatest people’s leader in Brazil, and one of the greatest in the history of Latin America is in this situation because the bourgeois elite can’t accept a worker who thought about the people during his presidency,” she said. - Professor Elenira, who was a candidate for Congress for the PT, criticized the dismantling of the federal public education system which began under Michel Temer and is continuing with Jair Bolsonaro. “What they are doing to the federal school system is absurd,” she said, “they don’t want anyone to have any more access to the learning institutions in the network, which are high quality. And there are so many working class kids in these schools thanks to the Lula and Dilma governments.”
- During the good afternoon Lula shout, the Vigil said goodbye to a group of comrades from the World Woman’s March who came from São Paulo. The activists spoke of the legacy of former President Lula and left a message: “We women will continue defending democracy and President Lula, who is a political prisoner. We also have solidarity with all of the families in Brumadinho and denounce that the miners have no plan to preserve the environment, which preserves life.” See the video here: https://www.facebook.com/vigilialulalivre/videos/556833191449425/?t=181
