- On this Wednesday, January 23rd, an article on the Lula Institute website spoke of the different reactions generated by Lula and Bolsonaro’s participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos. In the first case, in 2003, the front page of one of the largest newspapers in the country ran the headline, “Lula demands for a pact against hunger.”. In the later, the front page of the same newspaper featured the scandal involving the current president’s son , with a smaller headline at the top of the page saying, “Bolsonaro makes a short speech without details about reforms.” There is no way to compare the two. - On this Wednesday, January 23rd, the labor movement took over coordinating the activities at the Lula Livre Vigil. Every day of the week a new organization that makes up part of the Frente Brasil Popular (Brazil Popular Front) takes responsibility for the organization of the events at the Vigil. - Léo Pinheiro signed a plea bargain deal with the Federal Public Prosectutors Office on this Wednesday, January 23rd, after years of negotiations, with the only objective being trying to incriminate former President Lula through groundless accusations without presenting any material evidence. The former President’s defense team made a statement reacting to the document, which was signed under confidentiality but was reported on by the press anyway. - On Largo da Batata square – a traditional center of demonstrations in defense of democracy and against the authoritarian ideas of Jair Bolsonaro – a “good night President Lula” demonstration was held this Wednesday, January 23rd, in synch with the activists who make the nightly greeting at the Lula Livre Vigil in Curitiba. The initiative was organized by the Oeste Zone Free Lula Committee and dozens of activists participated in the act.
