Bulletin 327 – People’s Committee in Defense of Lula and Democracy
Straight from Curitiba – 1/12/2019 – 281 days of Resistance – 7:25 PM
1. Congressman Paulo Teixiera was in the Lula Livre Vigil, where he criticized Jair Bolsonaro’s mismanagement and attacks against the Brazilian people. “Dear President Lula,” he said, “ we would like to ask that man who was never a judge because he was never fair, who is now the Justice Minister, where Queiroz [Flavio Bolsonaro’s driver, recently accused of money laundering] is. The man who arrested you so that he could become Justice Minister now does nothing about a scandal involving those who are in power.”
2. On this 281st day of resistance in Curitiba, the day at the Lula Livre Vigil began with chants like “On April 7th they arrested our Lula. We are the resistance because you are the struggle,” and “There is now proof, there is no crime! Free Lula, Free Lula!” The activists form the social movements like the MST, and the unions are keeping the energy level high in defense of democracy in Curitiba.
3. The Vigil received a visit from Julio, a doctor who sent a message to Lula, saying that he is the greatest leader and was the greatest President Brazil ever had, and that he will always defend the ex-President, the truth and democracy. During the afternoon, a family from Southern Minas Gerais also visited the Vigil and spoke of their memories of the time the PT was founded in that State.
