1. In a public statement, ex-President Lula’s defense team said that the absurd charges filed yesterday are part of the judicial persecution practiced against the former President with the clear goal of keeping him out of politics. “It is yet another stage of lawfare against Lula, which consists in misuse of laws and legal procedures for political persecution.” The defense team also reiterated that Lula did not commit any crime during the exercise of his job as President of the Republic, and “also did not participate in any criminal organization.” Read more here: http://www.pt.org.br/nota-da-defesa-nova-acao-contra-lula-da-continuidade-a-perseguicao-politica/
2. “The activism of some members of the Brazilian Public Prosecutors office are incompatible with the guarantee of the presumption of innocence: this is one of the themes we brought to the UN in 2016,” said Cristiano Zanin, ex-President Lula’s defense attorney on this Saturday, November 24, on Twitter. He was referring to post made by Public Prosecutor Deltan Dallganol on the new charges against the former President. Read more here:

3. Whoever arrives at the Lula Livre Vigil in Curitiba, whatever the day is, is welcomed by Izabel Aparecida Fenrandes, a 59 year old Paraná resident who was living in Italy when she decided to become a missionary. It was there, in Italy, where she first heard that “a worker was going to revolutionize Brazil”. Izabel saw similarities in Lula’s political ideals with the missionary work she was doing. “To be a true Christian, we have to look at the poor and help. I saw this value in Lula, of being together with the poor. Lula is one of the best Christians who I have met in my entire life,” she says. 4. Solidarity marked the 232nd day of resistance struggle in the Lula Livre Vigil on this Saturday, November 24. The activists received food donations. There were dozens of kilos of fruit, vegetables and eggs. The good morning and afternoon shouts to ex-President Lula were led by young members of the Frente Brasil Popular (Brazil People’s Front). There was also an activity inspired by the National Day for Fighting Violence Against Women, which will be celebrated tomorrow on November 25.
