Bulletin 275 – People’s Committee in Defense of Lula and Democracy

1. Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sent a letter, on this Wednesday, November 21st, to the 1st World Forum of Critical Thinking promoted by CLACSO (The Latin American Social Sciences Council). “I am extremely happy that, at a moment in which part of Latin America and the World is undergoing a rise in setbacks – of lies, now called Fake News, of political violence, of judicial persecution – that a great encounter has arisen like this one to remind us, once again, that another world is possible and necessary,” wrote Lula. 2. Ex-President Lula will be visited on this Thursday, November 22nd, by the professor and writer Juan Carlos Monedero, one of the founders of Podemos from Spain. Lula, who has been a political prisoner for 7 months, has received constant manifestations of international solidarity, overall in Latin America and Europe, where the scandalous condemnation of the ex-President without proof has been strongly rejected. Monedero will be joined by PT President, Senator Gleisi Hoffmann.
3. Doris Acciolly e Silva, a retired USP professor, led the good afternoon shout to the former President in the Lula Livre Vigil this Wednesday. She made a point of complimenting the democratic resistance activists in Curitiba for their solidarity with Lula and for strengthening the process of denouncements of the arbitrary imprisonment of the former President, condemned by Sergio Moro without any proof of a crime committed.
4. This week, the health tent in the Vigil is being run by Nina Moura, an activist from the MST in São Miguel do Iguaçu (Western Paraná). “With health, it is better to prevent. Our people are not used to the cold in Curitiba, so I made ginger tea with camomile and mixed propolis in, which has an antibiotic-like effect,” she said. The activists int the Vigil also have access to auriculotherapy, which uses mustard seeds to energize points of the ear which correspond with internal organs.
