- Sérgio Gabrielli, Economics Professor at UFBA and ex-President of Petrobras (2005-2012) released an open letter to President Lula today, October 29th, in which he analysis the post-electoral political scenario. For him, President-elect Jair Bolsonaro has restarted cold war rhetoric and is a real threat to the Constitution, to the social movements and to the rights of the Brazilian people. In the document Gabrielli says that the PT should become center for the congregation of democratic forces for resistance to fascism. He praised the work of millions of Brazilians who mobilized to resist the extreme right candidate. - The good afternoon shout to ex-President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on the day after the election was led by Adriana Prestes, an activists from the Landless Workers Movement (MST). She said that this was the 206th good afternoon shout at the Lula Livre Vigil, the space of resistance which unites activists for democracy and freedom for the ex-President. “What motivates us is the thankfulness for everything that comrade Lula did for the working class,” she said.
- This evening, a religious ceremony took place at the Lula Livre Vigil which left a message of hope for the democratic resistance activists. “The word of God is the source of our faith,” said Sister Inês Pereira after reading a passage of the Gospel on blind Barthimaeus. The nun said that now is the time to join forces to restart and resist the challenges posed by the political conjuncture. After the religious ceremony, the activists joined together to yell good night to Lula.
