  1. The National Free Lula March is getting closer to Brasilia hour by hour. The three columns, with thousands of rural workers, which left from three different locations on the outskirts of the Federal District should arrive at Mané Garrincha stadium in the national capital on the morning of Tuesday, August 14th. The protestors, who will march to the Supreme Electoral Court to accompany the registration of Lula’s candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic on August 15th, gained international reinforcements today with the arrival of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Adolfo Pérez Esquivel and representatives of the leftist Spanish political party Podemos.

This afternoon, August 13th, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel visited the Centro Cultural de Brasília (CCB) to meet with the 7 activists who have been on hunger strike for 14 days, for Justice in the Federal Supreme Court and Freedom for Lula. Esquivel said that he will meet with the President of the Supreme Court, Minister Carmen Lucia, on this Tuesday, August 14th, to speak about the arbitrary imprisonment of ex-President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The PT Congressional Leader, Paulo Pimenta (Rio Grande do Sul), announced today, August 13th, that the PT Bloc will file a series of complaints against Judge Sergio Moro, the Federal Chief Prosecutor Raquel Dodge, 4thRegional Federal Court president Thompson Flores and public prosecutor Gebran Neto, “who associated in an illegal manner, forming a conspiracy of the toga to impede the law from being obeyed and releasing ex-President Lula on July 8th. In an interview with foreign journalists who are registered in Brazil, PT National President Gleisi Hoffmann reaffirmed that there is no legal barrier for ex-President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to run for the presidency of the republic. Lula’s name will be registered on this Wednesday, August 15th, during a big demonstration in Brasilia. Today, the Lula Livre Vigil was the site of a book launching for “Comentários a um Acórdão Anunciado – O Processo Lula no TRF-4” (Commentaries on a Deal Foretold – Lula’s Appeal in the 4th Federal Regional Court), which analyzes the manipulation and arbitrary decisions in the judgment of the ex-President during the appeal against his judgment for the case of the beach front apartment in Guarujá. The book contains chapters by 52 authors who provide technical analysis of the judicial farce that resulted in Lula’s condemnation. Since Sunday, August 12th, there have been protests in countries around the world demanding the immediate release of ex-President Lula and denouncing the political nature of his imprisonment, resulting from a judicial farce orchestrated by judge Sergio Moro. Another purpose of the protests has been to file letters in embassies and consulates around the world to the Brazilian Supreme Court, demanding the annulment of the arbitrary ruling which is being used to keep Lula behind bars. Protests were held in Santiago (Chile), New York and Washington DC (USA), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Havana (Cuba), London (UK), Port Au Prince (Haiti), San José (Costa Rica), Johannesburg (South Africa), Caracas (Venezuela), Stockholm (Sweden) and Panama City (Panama).
