- After the announcement of the alliance between the PT and the PC do B, which made the Lula-Haddad-Manuela ticket official, the spokespersons for the PT Presidential candidate gave their first press conference on this Tuesday, August 7th. Fernando Haddad and Manuela D’Ávila said that they will begin a series of trips across the country this week to bring Lula’s candidacy to all of the regions in Brazil and talk about a plan for governance that will interrupt all of the setbacks from the coup and return rights and hope to the Brazilian people. - On this Tuesday, Haddad held a collective interview with progressive bloggers to talk about Lula’s plan for governance (2019-2022), which he coordinated. The ex-Mayor of São Paulo also spoke about the judicial absurdities that are associated with the unjust imprisonment of Lula who, as of today, has been in jail for 4 months. - The 7 activists who are on hunger strike for Lula’s release and against the setbacks implemented by the Michel Temer government filed requests for hearings with each of the 11 Federal Supreme Court ministers today, on August 7th. They want the Supreme Court to set a date for judgment on the Declaratory Actions of Constitutionality 43 and 44, to suspend the preemptive execution of sentencing after the second appeal. There are thousands of Brazilians currently waiting for judgment on this issue, including ex-President Lula. - In the #LulaLivre Vigil in Curitiba, before the “good afternoon” yell to the ex-President was made today, the activists gave a round of applause for the 7 warriors on hunger strike for Justice in the Federal Supreme Court. “Today marks 8 days since our comrades began their hunger strike in Brasilia. It is important to remember the spaces of struggle and resistance in our country,” said Rosanne Silva, a member of the Vigil’s coordinating committee. The afternoon yell to Lula was strengthened by 40 activists from the MAB (Movement of People Affected by Dams) from Jequitinhonha Valley in Minas Gerais.
- The PT’s social and educational policies benefited a generation of youth who now fight so that everyone can have the opportunities that they had. This is the case of Renato Freitas, an activists from the Black Movement and the Housing Movement in Greater Curitiba who participated in the Lula Livre Vigil activities on this Tuesday, August 7th. - PT congressmen reiterated the demand for freedom for ex-President Lula after Interpol confirmed that Judge Sérgio Moro is biased, disobeyed the Brazilian Constitution and the International Declaration of Human Rights. “If Interpol removed Tacla Durán from their wanted list due to Moro’s bias, why doesn’t the Brazilian judiciary remove Lula from jail for the same reason,” said Congressman Paulo Teixeira (PT-São Paulo).
