1. A Brasilia court absolved Lula of all charges related to a plea bargain testimony made by Delcidio do Amaral today. The ex-President’s defense lawyers reiterated that from the start they said that Delcidio’s plea bargain testimony was false.
2. The PT released a letter exposing the political nature of Judge Carolina Lebbos who, in a decision yesterday, barred Lula from exercising his rights as a pre-candidate arguing that he is “ineligible”, in other words trampling on the Supreme Electoral Court. See more:
3. Tomorrow is the National Day of the Free Lula Fight. There will be demonstrations, pamphlet distribution, debates, and registration tables set up in several cities across the country. See more here: http://www.pt.org/cidades-de-todo-pais-realizam-dia-national-de-luta-livre/
4. After the “good morning” yell to Lula ended this morning, Priscilla Monneret led a discussion at the Vigil on the theme of women and agro-ecology. Afterwords, Celso Amorim, the former Foreign Relations Minister, visited the Lula Livre Vigil. He gave a speech to the activists about the active and lofty foreign policy during the PT governments. According to Amorim, the distinction that Brazil gained on the world stage bothered the imperialists, who began to lash out at Brazilian democracy to weaken its sovereignty.
5. At dusk, after visiting Lula together with the ex-Minister of Communications Franklin Martins, Amorim returned to the Vigil to give news from the ex-President to the activists. “It was an emotional visit and he spoke a lot about the issue of national sovereignty, which is crumbling,” he said.
6. Felipe Moteka, a university student from the town of Turvo in downstate Paraná, led the “good afternoon” yell today. “I am studying Political Science and Literature, I’m 18 and it is a huge honor to be here,” he said. During the afternoon there was a round of conversation about the pedagogue Paulo Freire facilitated by Universidade Federal de Paraná Professor Cida Zanete.
