1. The PT President and Senator Glesi Hoffmann and the ex-Mayor of São Paulo and coordinator of Lula’s government plan, Fernando Haddad, visited Lula on this Thursday, June 28th. During a press conference afterwords, they announced that there will be a big march on Brasilia on August 15, when PT will register Lula’s candidacy and governmental program for this year’s elections. The march will unite thousands of people, and also reinforce the defense of the ex-President’s innocence and the judicial persecution to which he is victim. Read more:

2. During her trip to Curitiba, Gleisi said that there are only two scenarios in which Lula will not run for president: first, if it is proven that he committed any crime, which nobody has been able to prove yet, and secondly, if he dies. “Since neither of these are going to happen, Lula is a candidate, will continue being a candidate and will be registered as a candidate.”
3. Federal Supreme Court Minister Edson Fachin’s maneuvers to prevent Lula’s appeal to be judged by the Supreme Court’s second group have been denounced by leaders across Brazil. On this Thursday, Gleisi reaffirmed that the last maneuver that Fachin made to block review of Lula’s case by the second group took place exactly to prevent him from running for office. “But we don’t accept this. On August 15th he will be registered as the PT’s candidate,” she said.
4. A poll conducted by CNI/IBOPE shows that Lula has 33% of the voter intention, which is double that of the next closest candidate, from the far right, who has 15%. Without the people’s candidate in the campaign – which will be registered on august 15th, despite the opposition – 33% of the people say they will cast white or blank ballots, with another 8% undecided. In second place, the far right candidate has 17% and Marina Silva has 13%. See more here: http://www.pt.org.br/ibope-cni-lula-continua-lider-com-33-da-preferencia-do-povo/
5. This June 28th marked the international day of GLBTI+ Pride. “In 1992, the PT was the first party to form a GLBT group organized within its structure and, with this, the movement was supported to consolidate its work and became part of the party directorate connected to the Popular Movements Secretariat,” said Janaiana Oliveira, PT’s national GLBT Sector Secretary. 6. On this Thursday, renowned legal scholars from across Brazil met in São Paulo to discuss the political character of ex-President Lula’s condemnation and the legality of his candidacy for the presidency. Scholars present included Celso Bandeira de Melo, Claudio Lembo and Eugênio Aragão, as well as ex-public prosecutors, electoral lawyers and jurists from from across the country. They reaffirmed the legality of Lula’s candidacy and, due to the arbitrary actions of the institutions, called the people to the streets.
