- Tomorrow Lula’s pre-candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic will be officially announced in Contagem, Minas Gerais. The act will start at 6 PM, will be broadcast live on the PT networks and will feature participation from the top leaders of PT and the social movements, artists, intellectuals, religious leaders and party members from across the country. - Other cities throughout the country will hold demonstrations to coincide with the announcement in Contagem. In São Paulo, for example, there will be a book launching for “Luiz Inácio Luta da Silva: Nos vimos a prisão do Lula (Luiz Inacio Fight da Silva: we see Lula’s prison)”, organized by Esther Solano with texts by Márcia Tiburi, Tata Amaral, Manuela D´avila, Aldo Zaiden and others at Peixaria Mitsugi at 7 PM.
- Piauí Governor Wellington Dias and ex-Governor of Bahia Jaques Wagner visited ex-President Lula today and brought a message from him to the activists in the #LulaLivre vigil. They said that Lula is very exited about the launching of his pre-candidacy. According to Wellington Dias, Lula made a point of emphasizing the affection that he has for the people in the Vigil and said that he is sad about the situation that Brazil is undergoing, with more poor people without the protections that were created during his government who are literally paying the bill for the retrogression caused by the current government.
- On this Friday, June 8th, at 4 PM, members of people’s social movements from Paraná will hold a march in downtown Curitiba. The goal is to dialogue with Parana society about the importance of healthy food, for the workers who live in agrarian reform settlements in the state, and also to demand the return to democracy and freedom for ex-President Lula, who has been held as a political prisoner for over 60 days in the city. The group will gather on Santos Andrade square, in front of the historic Parana Federal University (UFPR) building and the march will leave from there.
