Bulletin 105 – People’s Committee in Defence of Lula and Democracy

1. The extraordinary PT Youth Congress ended today in São José dos Pinhais, in greater Curitiba. It was three days of deliberations and heated debates. The new directorate that emerged from the event, headed by Ronald Sorriso, from the CNB caucus, has comrades from all the internal blocs from the PT Youth. The unity achieved has, as its objective, united all of the youth forces of the PT in name of the main struggle of the year: removing Lula from his political imprisonment so that, with the will of the people, he is elected President of Brazil once again.
2. Activists and politicians from the Workers Party in Paraiba held a demonstration this Sunday to commemorate the launching of Lula’s name as pre-candidate for the presidency. The crowd gathered in the Mangabeira public market on the South side of João Pessoa. According to State Congressman Anisio Maia, the act achieved its objective: “today João Pessoa was covered in red. We went to the streets to say that we only have one option to vote for the Brazilian presidency – Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.” The official pre-launching of his candidacy for the presidency for PT will take place on Friday, June 8th in Contagem, in Greater Belo Horizonte.
3. Congressmen Marco Maia (PT-Rio Grande do Sul) and Paraná State PT President Dr. Rosinha, led the “good night” yell to the ex-President this Sunday at the #LulaLivre Vigil. The Congressman said that this is the fourth time he’s participated in the good night yell to ex-President Lula and affirmed that he will continue coming until Lula is free.
4. Today there were #LulaLivre yells in the friendly between Brazil and Croatia in Liverpool, England. Fans from Liverpool went to the stadium carrying banners with messages like, “Free Lula” and “Lula-Political Prisoner”, denouncing his arbitrary imprisonment. 5. The São Paulo Gay Parade, one of the world’s largest with hundreds of thousands of participants, filled Paulista Avenue this morning with the colors of diversity and resistance. Rainbow flags, symbol of the LGBTQI movement were decorated with Lula’s image and demands to the Judiciary for fair elections with the participation of the ex-President.
