- Today, on Wednesday, September 26, Aleida Guevara, the Cuban pediatrician and daughter of historic revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara, visited the #LulaLivre Vigil. She spoke with the activists from the Movimento dos Sem Terra (Landless People’s Movement/MST), and planted a seedling in the Lula Livre forest. Afterwords she facilitated a conversation circle at the Vigil about international solidarity and said the “Lula’s imprisonment is unjust and unacceptable.”

- On Tuesday, September 25th, Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s defense team filed a solicitation with the 4th Regional Federal Court to grant Lula the right to record messages of support for Fernando Haddad’s electoral campaign for the Presidency of the Republic. The solicitation is based on the Supreme Electoral Court’s decision, which recognizes the right of Lula to appear in electoral advertising for the “People Happy Again” coalition, as well as the ruling by the UN Human Rights Committee.

- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, in a speech at the UN General Assembly today, (September 26) in New York, denounced Lula’s political imprisonment and arbitrary conviction by judge Sérgio Moro. “We denounce the political imprisonment of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the decision to bar the people from voting and electing the most popular leader in Brazil to the presidency,” he said.
- A group of activists from the São Paulo bank workers union took part in the good afternoon shout to Lula on this Wednesday. Márcio Rodrigues, Union Director, said that the group of bankers went to the Lula Livre Vigil to strengthen the democratic resistance and solidarity with Lula, who has been held as a political prisoner for 173 days.
- PT National President, Senator Gleisi Hoffman (Paraná), together with Aleida Guevara, took part in the ‘good night’ shout to Lula. Gleisi thanked Aleida for her solidarity with Lula. The PT leader emphasized the importance of the Vigil and said that the current challenge in Brazil is to restart the project initiated by Lula in 2003, to but the nation back on the track of development with social justice.
