Bulletin 104 – People’s Committee in Defense of Lula and Democracy

1. After the opening was held directly in the #LulaLivre Vigil on Friday, The extraordinary PT Youth Congress continued today in Curitiba. With the theme of “A new generation of Lulas to fight for Brazil”, in panel discussions and debates the party youth discussed ways to move the fight for democracy and free elections forward in Brazil, including with the participation of ex-President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, currently a political prisoner due to the arbitrary decision made by Judge Sergio Moro.
2. The rain did not slow down the activities programming throughout the day at the #LulaLivre Vigil today. There was a round of conversations on the theme of “Labor Reform and Security” facilitated by the social worker and professor Itanamara Guiedes and professor Tereza Lemos, from the Frente Brasil Popular (Brazil Popular Front/FBP). And there was plenty of music in the rain on Olga Benario square with a show by singer Daniel Farias.
3. PT Paraná State President Dr. Rosinha led this evening’s “Good Night” yell to ex-President Lula. Afterwords, he said that “only a politician like Lula is capable of getting so many people to fight. It isn’t only due to his importance but due to the injustice he is suffering, as an innocent man in prison”. Dr. Rosinha observed that with all of the mediatic and judicial persecution of Lula, the ex-President only grows in the electoral polls, with the people giving a clear message that they want to vote for him for President of the Republic.
4. In Sergipe State, as in many other places across the country, there have been demonstrations in defense of freedom for the ex-President. On this Saturday, the Sergipe #LulaLivre Caravan passed through the cities of Salgado, Lagarto, Campo do Brito and Macambira. As has always happened, the receptions were enormous as were the emotions of the people who want the return to a democratic nation in which Lula has the guaranteed right to participate in the elections for President of the Republic. Congressman João Lula Daniel (PT), Sergipe State PT President Rogerio Carvalho, and PT militants took participated in the Caravan.
