- The #LulaLivre Vigil released a note on its 40 days of democratic resistance, completed yesterday, in which it speaks about the resistance center, which was born in São Bernardo do Campo, transferred for Olga Benário square and continues as a “symbolic platform” for all of those who are fighting against Lula’s political imprisonment. The note says that, with the arrival of Winter, the coordinators are starting a process of transitioning the activists camped out at the vigil to more adequate accommodations. - This Friday, May 18th, the movement “Black people with Lula” is starting a series of activities. At 2 PM, Macaé Evaristo, the ex-Communications Secretary of Minas Gerais, Ana Benite, President of the Brazilian Association of Black Researchers (ABPN), and Georigina Lima, from ABPN-Sul will participate in the “Good Afternoon President Lula” yell. Afterwords, there will be a turban making workshop and a group discussion in the Casa da Democracia. The “Good Night, President Lula” yell will include the ex-Minister of Woman, Racial Equality and Human Rights, Nilma Lino Gomes.
- Today there will be another edition of “Lights for Lula”, an homage to the ex-President which has become a tradition in the Vigil. As night begins, the activists light candles for Lula. - The Lula’s ex-Minister of the Human Rights Secretariat, Nilmário Miranda, and Tadeu Veneiri (PT), the President of the Paraná State Legislature Human Rights Commission, are speaking with activists in the camp this morning. Afterwords there will be a debate entitled, “Agribusiness and Pesticides: the coup and the poison package”. The PT Congressional bloc has positioned itself against the Billwhich aims to “totally free up” the use of all pesticides in the country.
