- One day after the Intercept and Folha de São Paulo, as part of the ongoing Vaza Jato reporting series, revealed that Sérgio Moro and the Federal Police hid the truth about Lula and Dilma’s audio through selective leaks, the Federal Public Prosecutors Office released an empty accusation to try to counter the growing wave in defense of Lula and against the Lava Jato investigation’s abuses. “The accusations were announced the day after serious revelations by the Folha de São Paulo about illegal actions made by the Lava Jato task force against Lula, showing that they hid proof of his innocence and conducted other illegal actions in order to destroy democracy in the country,” says one passage of the official statement from Lula’s defense team. - With the radical right wing extremism which has always been present since Jair Bolsonaro took office, it is more urgent than ever to use culture to try to understand the current political moment in the country. It was with this in mind that, on this Monday, September 9, the Lula Livre Vigil held a public showing of the movie, “A Onda.” The film tells the story of the trajectory of Professor Rainer, who teaches his high school students about the Autocratic State. Celebrated by the students, he suggests that they create their own autocratic government. Seduced by Nazi ideals, the students quickly change their behavior and scare the teachers.
