1. On Sunday, June 16th, the Lula Livre Vigil welcomed visiting activists from Paraíba state. Comrade Benedito made a point of leaving a message for the Vigil activists. “Our desire is to fight injustice against Lula – a man who is suffering for our nation because he believes in it and in the Brazilian people,” he said. Benedito also said that the entire Brazilian Northeast is on the side of the activists who are resisting at the Lula Livre Vigil in defense of democracy and freedom for ex-President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. 2. On Saturday, June 15th, the Lula Livre Festival in Fortaleza gathered around 10,000 people, with shows by dozens of artists. During the event, promoted by the Ceará State Lula Livre Committee, there were various activities including the Lula Livre Market, with products produced by family farmers from Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) villages, and children’s activities in the “Lula for little ones” center. 3. On this Sunday, the Lula Livre Vigil also welcomed a visit from members of the National Training School (Enfoc) of the National Agricultural Workers Confederation (Contag). The academic coordinator of Enfoc, Raimunda Oliveira, known as Mudinha, expressed solidarity for Lula and the Vigil activists. She spoke of the importance of base level political education to raise people’s consciousness about the social and labor setbacks that are underway at the moment due to the right wing extremist Jair Bolsonaro government. “There are many fights in the trenches and the political education process has to be strengthened more and more,” she said. 4. The “good afternoon, President Lula,” shout on this Sunday, June 16th, was strengthened by activists from the PC do B party and comrades from Bahia, Brasília, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Espírito Santo and Ceará. The show of solidarity to the former President was led by comrades Inês, from CUT São Paulo, and Tânia, from Rio Grande do Sul.
