2. Fernando Haddad and Federal Congressman Wadih Damous (PT-Rio de Janeiro) visited ex-President Lula in Curitiba on this Monday, January 14th. After the visit, Damous visited the activists in the Lula Livre Vigil and spoke about the mood of the ex-President. “The President is in very good health, upbeat and with great political clarity. According to his evaluation, this is the best moment for the PT to return to engaging in the kind of opposition that it knows how to conduct. This government is showing that there is space for a consistent opposition. The PT needs to overcome its obstacles and the electoral hangover and mount opposition,” he said. 3. Damous also said that Lula expressed his gratitude once again to the activists in the Vigil, by the resistance in defense of democracy and in the fight for the end of his political imprisonment. “He is, once again, sending a strong hug to all of you. He is very grateful to everyone and always says that, when he leaves, the first thing he is going to do is give a hug to each person in the Vigil.”
4. On the day in which religious visits traditionally take place, Lula was visited on this January 14th by the Afro-Brazilian religious holy man Antônio Caetano de Paula Júnior. The holy man spoke with the activists in the Vigil after the meeting. “Lula transfigures the image of the human being to something messianic, in the sense of seeking out our highest value, solidarity. What more can we ask of someone who has brought hope to so many people? Lula still inspires us to never bow to injustice,” he said.
