- PT President, Senator Gleisi Hoffmann, gave a speech today at the meeting of political parties of BRICS countries, in Tsuane, South Africa, in which she gave a detailed account of the social and labor setbacks that have been happening in Brazil since the 2016 coup and spoke of the judicial persecution against ex-President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Gleisi showed how Lula was condemned without practicing any crime and how he was arbitrarily removed from the presidential elections this year to facilitate the election of the far right candidate. - Workers from around the world, who were united on this Tuesday, December 4, in Copenhagen, Denmark, for the 4th International Union Congress (CSI) held a demonstration of solidarity in defense of freedom for ex-President Lula, who has been a political prisoner since April of this year. The Congress will continue until this Friday with around 1200 union members from 132 countries, with the goal of discussing fighting strategies to guarantee the defense of the rights of the working class of the entire world. - Today, on Tuesday, December 4th, Ex-President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sent a letter to the participants in the CSI 4th World Congress. “We have a great battle facing us, but knowing that we can count on the unconditional solidarity of millions of workers gives us even more conviction that we will win this,” he wrote. - The good afternoon shout to ex-President Lula on this Tuesday was led by Raul de Paris, an activist from the Movement of People Affected by Dams. He said that for 242 days, activists from all over the country have gathered at the Lula Livre Vigil to denounce the threats to democracy in Brazil and the arbitrary imprisonment of the ex-president.
- Before the afternoon shout to ex-President Lula, the activists sang happy birthday to Pedro Carrano, a journalist who is a member of the Vigil’s coordinating committee. He thanked everyone for the well wishes and said that the resistance in the Vigil is a permanent space in defense of Lula, for everything he represents to the Brazilian people.
