- The Lawyer Cristiano Zanin refers to new accusations announced today which the public prosecutors are self-titling “São Paulo Lava Jato”, against ex-President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as “one more hard blow against the democratic rule of law.” According to him, the accusations subvert the law and the facts in order to fabricate charges and give continuity to the unprecedented political persecution by the judiciary. “It is one more chapter of lawfare, which has been imposed on Lula since 2016,” he says. - National PT President, Senator Gleisi Hoffmann (Paraná), said in a note that the new accusations against Lula are one more “abuse of the partisan public prosecutors’ office” and says that the authors of the charges should be tried for abuse of authority. “The accusations are lies and are an embarrassment to the Brazilian judiciary. - The Lula Institute released a statement in response to the new accusations made by the São Paulo Lava Jato task force against the former president. “The accusations presented today by the Public Prosecutors against Lula follow the script of unwarranted political accusations against the project for a more just and sovereign nation, of which Lula is the greatest symbol,” says a passage from the note. - On this Monday, the 234th day of democratic resistance in Curitiba, the “good afternoon, Lula” shout was led by Adair Daio, a member of the Landless Worker’s Movement (MST). He emphasized the importance of the resistance in defense of freedom for Lula and said that Sergio Moro’s condemnation is totally arbitrary and totally lacking in proof of any crime committed by the ex-President. Natália Mendes, who came from Rio de Janeiro, also participated in the good afternoon shout with the goal of thanking Lula for the Prouni university scholarship program, which enabled her to get a degree in Journalism.
- Father Pedro Guareschi visited Lula this Monday, November 26. “A comrade is someone you break bread with. This open prisons, breaks all doors and all locks,” he said. The Priest said that he is sure that Lula’s innocence calms him in moments of affliction. “He is suffering but his spirit is free,” he said.
