1. Today marked the 15th anniversary of the founding of Bolsa Familia, one of the most transformative social programs in the history of the world, which was created during the government of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The program lifted millions of Brazilians out of poverty, and was internationally praised and duplicated in many countries around the world. In December 2017, 21% of the Brazilian population – around 42 million people – had strengthened food security due to the Bolsa Familia program. Read more here:

2. On this Saturday, the 197th day of political imprisonment for ex-president Lula – the activists from the Lula Livre Vigil joined the movement held in hundreds of Brazilian cities in defense of democracy and against the fascism which is growing around the country. The activists debated the importance of the Vigil, as much for the defense of freedom for the former President as for its importance denouncing the arbitrary actions by the judiciary and the threats against Brazilian democracy. During the good morning, good afternoon and good evening shouts for Lula, the activists sent their well wishes and yelled, “Free Lula!”.
3. On this Saturday, October 20th tens of thousands of Brazilians held another demonstration showing that they are willing to fight to the end to maintain democracy, in opposition to the hatred disseminated by the Jair Bolsonaro campaign. Over 180 cities in Brazil and abroad were the site of peaceful and pluralistic demonstrations, which promoted the only governmental plan, led by Haddad and Manuela, which can lift Brazilians out of the crisis.
