- Former Argentinian President Eduardo Duhalde will visit former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on this Thursday, July 18th. He will be the fifth ex-head of State to visit Lula, strengthening the campaign denouncing his political imprisonment. Duhalde will visit Lula at 4PM, accompanied by the journalist and writer Emir Sader. After the meeting the former Argentine president will meet the press near the exit of the Curitiba federal police headquarters, where Lula has been held arbitrarily in prison since April 2018. - Former President Lula’s defense team filed a petition on this Tuesday, July 16th, against the ruling by 13th Federal Court substitute judge Gabriela Hardt, who illegally maintained the block against 100% of D. Marisa Letícia Lula’s estate assets. It was submitted to the 4th Regional Federal Court (TRF-4). The estate assets of Dona Marisa, according to law, consist of the right to half of the assets belonging to the former President. - Joana Rodrigues Mortágua, Portuguese political leader from the Left Bloc in Portuguese Parliament, visited the Lula Livre Vigil on Tuesday, July 16th. In addition to participating in the “good afternoon President Lula” shout, Joana facilitated a conversation circle entitled, “the Portuguese political conjuncture and its relationship with Brazil – the accusations that have been made in Portugal since Lula’s political imprisonment.” The Portuguese lawmaker told the activists that “the irregularities involved with the imprisonment of Lula only prove that he is a political prisoner.” See photos here: https://bit.ly/2YbETki
- The Lula Livre Vigil coordinators issued a statement of repudiation on this Tuesday, July 16th, against the journalist Alexandre Garcia who, in a an erroneous and mean way, said that the Vigil has ended. “We reaffirm that the Lula Livre Vigil continues firmly and cohesively despite the cold and rain, with continuity of its daily activities schedule in the tent that was set up on a private lot of land.” The coordinators reaffirm their “disposition to fight until Lula is freed and declared innocent.” The statement also talks about Garcia’s role supporting the Brazilian military dictatorship.
