  1. The chant chosen by the activists present at the Free Lula Vigil this Thursday afternoon (September 26) was providential: “We have internationalized the struggle. We have internationalized our hope.” The chant began shortly after Lula was visited by another big name from the world legal system: this time, it was former Spanish Judge Baltasar Garzón, known for having issued the order to arrest Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. In a note published this Thursday (September 26), Lula mourned the death of former French President Jacques Chirac, who passed away this morning. “President Jacques Chirac was my friend and a friend of Brazil. 1. The “Good morning, President Lula!” yell this Thursday was led by a group of public-school teachers and bank employees from the state of Minas Gerais. Soon after, the Vigil was host to another conversation circle, this time on the subject of “Privatizations and changes to the regulations governing union representation.”

  1. The artist known as Tec has painted a mural called “Lula’s Diary”, which represents texts written by the former president during his unjust imprisonment in Curitiba, with a view to spread the word about what is happening in Latin America. The work leverages the architectural structure of a building in Cologne, Germany, where it is on display.
