  1. Federal representatives Paulo Pimenta (PT-Rio Grande do Sul state) and Paulo Teixeira (PT-São Paulo state) will visit former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva this Thursday (August 29) at the headquarters of the Federal Police Superintendence in Curitiba. After their meeting, they will visit the Free Lula Vigil to talk with the activists there about their conversation with the greatest popular leader in the history of Brazil, held as a political prisoner since April 7, 2018. Pimenta and Teixeira’s comments will be broadcast live on the social networks of the PT, Lula and partner sites from 5pm.

  1. British geographer David Harvey, recognized as one of the most important thinkers of the contemporary world, participated in a debate on the challenges of the current international situation at the Armazém do Campo (São Paulo), of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST). He also signed a manifesto demanding Lula be freed. This Wednesday (August 28), former president Lula’s social networks published Harvey’s talk. “Lula should never have been sent to prison. I believe that his imprisonment is a sign of the desperate desire of capitalism to silence any voice that calls into question its domination of the world,” he said. 1. Lula’s imprisonment “is part of a project to destroy the achievements of the working people, a project to impose neoliberalism on Brazil. And that means a very small state that doesn’t spend money on the people.” So said Paulo Okamotto, president of the Lula Institute, last Saturday (August 24) during a plenary session of the São Paulo State Free Lula Committee. During the event, he talked about Lula and the organization of the struggle for his freedom in the current political scenario.
