1. Ex-President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is being persecuted by the justice system and this is clearly recognized by the Brazilian population. This is the evaluation made by the President-elect and senatorial candidate Dilma Rousseff, who visited the ex-President on this Thursday, September 6, accompanied by Marcia Tiburi, PT candidate for governor of Rio de Janeiro. “The people are seeing all of this and they perceive that there is a persecution of Lula going on,” said Dilma. 2. The “good morning” shout to Lula today was joined by the singer/songwriters Francis Hime and Olívia Hime, who sang for the democratic resistance activists who have been in the #LulaLivre Vigil for 153 days in defense of democracy and freedom for the ex-President.

3. On this Friday, Brazilian Independence day, there will be an annual “Shout of the Excluded” demonstration in Brasilia. This year’s theme will be “Inequality generates violence: enough privileges”. One of the focuses of the movement will be defense of freedom for Lula and denouncement of his arbitrary imprisonment decreed by judge Sérgio Moro. The event starts at 9:30 AM, with a concentration in front of the Cathedral in the Federal Capital. Read more here:

4. The “good afternoon Lula!” shout on this Thursday was led by filmmaker Silvio Tendler. “I am here to greet President Lula, and to demonstrate against this absurd act of his imprisonment. I express my solidarity with him,” he said. The filmmaker participated in the premiere of his new film, “Dedo na Ferida” Wednesday night at the Marielle Lives Center for Formation and Culture, which is part of the #LulaLivre Vigil. The film denounces the devastating effects of financial capital on the world.

5. The Italian union leader Susanna Caruso, general secretary of the CGIL Union Federation, also participated in the “good night” shout to Lula. She told the resistance activists that there is a consensus in Italy that Lula is the victim of a judicial coup. The union leader also facilitated a conversation circle on the theme “The resurgence of fascist movements and democratic resistance.”
